Pixel users alert! Android 16 update is breaking navigation and gestures: Here’s what you can do

Google rolled out Android 16 to Pixel owners last week. While the update introduces several new features and enhancements, including the new Expressive Material Design 3, users have reported a bug that affects the phone’s control and functionality. According to a report by Android Headlines, multiple Google Pixel users who downloaded the latest Android 16 update are reporting a bug that makes gestures and navigation buttons unresponsive.

For the unversed, Google introduced the latest Android 16 update at its I/O event, held on May 20-21. The update is currently available to last year’s Pixel 9 series, Pixel 8 series, Pixel 7 series and Pixel 6 series smartphones.

Pixel users are facing issues with the Android 16 update

As reported, Pixel users have taken to social media platforms like Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) to report the Android 16 bug. They have reported that after updating their devices to the latest version, they are experiencing issues with basic phone navigation. The bug causes the device to become unresponsive when attempting to return to an app, swipe home, or tap a navigation button.

According to some Reddit users, the phone’s home button stops working for up to 30 seconds. This issue persists throughout the day, causing users to become increasingly frustrated.

Notably, not everyone is facing this bug. Some users have said that their devices are working perfectly.
